Man does this truck run strong with mildly worked over 083 heads, an LT1 roller cam, and mass air TPI with some chip burning.
I ditched TBI for TPI on my long bed ext cab K1500 and went to 083 heads (Vortecs would be even better.actually look at the $100/each vortecs in my 1980 Firebird thread I just bought and am putting on another 350 roller cam build). If you need help determining which specific tuning parts to buy I can help. So your best gains right now, if you plan on doing any upgrades to a TBI, is to invest in a chip burner, datalog cable, and a wideband O2 and controller for it. Otherwise, adding heads and a cam to a TBI can easily make it run worse rather than better, if you do not tune it.
Deviating from stock with a MAP based system is going to require a lot of tuning to take advantage of what you have improved.
